The Healthcare Waste Report for the Zhejiang Province has been elaborated as part of the Project "Environmental Oriented Enterprise Consultancy", which is integrated in the Sino-German Technical Cooperation Programme. All information and data regarding generation and management of healthcare waste in Zhejiang Province used in this report is based on the comprehensive study and investigation of the Environmental Science Research & De-sign Institute of the Zhejiang Province.

Beside the assessment of the current situation of healthcare waste management in Zhejiang province, a prognosis from 2005 – 2020 of future healthcare waste arising and needed treatment capacities have been carried out:
- Two scenarios from 2005 to 2010 and from 2010 to 2020 have been developed in this report;
- Evaluation of Hazardous Waste Generation related to the existing and planned treatment facilities;
- Comparison of different treatment technologies and logistic approaches (central / de-central);
- Calculation of Treatment and Disposal Fees;
- Proposal of Treatment Capacities and investment costs and allocation of healthcare waste to appropriate waste management options;
- Outlining of recommendations based on the outcomes of the scenarios;
- Development of a Healthcare Waste Management Infrastructure Plan (Outlook);
