Project description:

A three member delegation from the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan came to Berlin/Germany for a study tour on Health Care waste management. During the period of November 27 - November 30, 2007 the delegation from Turkmenistan has undertaken a study tour to Germany/Berlin in order to study the German experience in Health Care Waste Management, Waste disposal, Environmental laws, Health and Environmental Hygiene and Waste Technology.The programme was supported by hospitals, ministries and institution in the Berlin area. Support was also provided by the Bundesministerium für Gesundheit [German Federal Ministry of Health], the Charité, the Märkische Entsorgungsanlagen- Betriebsgesellschaft mbH (MEAB), the Robert Koch-Institute (RKI), the Sonderabfallgesellschaft Brandenburg/Berlin mbH (SBB), the Umweltbundesamt [German Federal Environmental Agency] and the Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin [Trauma Center Berlin].

Through these meetings the delegates made useful contacts and were able to meet with experts from the areas of facility management, waste disposal, environmental management and human medicine.
